As the Bruntwood portfolio continues to grow and expand, with a development pipeline of over £1bn, Lee Jaques, Finance Project Manager at Bruntwood, recognised the perfect opportunity to redefine the company’s approach to expense management.​

Out with the old​

The need for a new process was clear. Lee explains:

“We had a traditional company credit card scheme, with lots of different departments all using a small number of cards. We also had approximately 35 different pots of petty cash pots and all the associated admin that comes with them.”​

Persisting with such an approach made tracking day-to-day spend difficult. Valuable time was being spent on receipt gathering, reporting, reconciliation, and petty cash management. It was a state of play that Lee and his team wanted to change.​

When the initial trial proved conclusive, the business put cards in the hands of more than 90 managers and senior leaders.
